Power of I

This year we have started an exciting new program at Robinson Middle School.  This program is call the "Power of I" where students are required to come to school at 7:15 or stay after school if they have not completed their homework.  Students will not be given the option of not doing homework.

Here is how the process works:

  1. Teachers notify administration of the names of students who have not completed homework and need to come to school at 7:15 the next morning.
  2. Parents receive an automated call that states where their child needs to report the next morning.
  3. The following day 8th grade students report to room 112 at 7:15 AM.  Sixth and 7th grade students report to room 205 at 7:15 AM the next morning.  Teachers are on duty in both locations.
  4. The teachers who are on duty turn completed work in to the appropriate teacher(s).
  5. Students who do not attend in the morning will need to stay that afternoon to complete missing work.

This is an evolving process for our school and students.  We are continually evaluating the program to make improvements to better serve both students and teachers.  As of today, many students are getting caught up on work that would otherwise have been a zero.  Our ultimate goal is for students to have a better understanding of the curriculum and information that is being taught.  This will hopefully lead to better prepared students as they enter into future grades and high school.

All three secondary schools (Robinson, Sevier, and Dobyns-Bennett) have similar programs.  We appreciate your cooperation with the program.
