School Highlights:

·          Literacy instruction is one of our primary focuses as reading, writing, science, social studies and math are integrated to help children create deeper meaning and understanding about each subject area.  Children are expected to read a variety of print and learn how to write using a variety of forms and techniques.

·          Our parents are actively involved in serving our school community.  Each year the number of volunteer hours increases.  Parents work at tutors in classrooms, assist in clerical work, help in our school clinic, provide food and clothing to needy families, and do so much more.

·          Currently we have four community partners:  Food City, Walgreens, Office Depot and McDonalds.  The businesses help our school by providing tangible resources and they also help interview our students for our school store helping them understand the foundations of life in the business world.

·          Students are involved in many activities at our school such as the school store, circus arts to include juggling and learn how to ride a unicycle.  Johnson Joggers, Art and Library Helpers, and Safety and Flag Patrol.  These activities provide children with the opportunity to learn how to work with others, learn effectively, communication skills and work toward the accomplishment of their personal goals.
