Kingsport City Schools Announces Principal Appointments

KINGSPORT – Kingsport City Schools is pleased to announce a number of principal appointments effective July 1, 2009.

Lenore Kilgore has been named principal of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Ms. Kilgore has served as the principal of Andrew Johnson Elementary School for the last decade. She has worked for 23 ½ years in Kingsport City Schools, serving as a special education teacher, special education director and an assistant principal at Dobyns-Bennett. Ms. Kilgore has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from East Tennessee State University and is endorsed in elementary education, special education and administration.

Cookie Greer has been named principal of John Sevier Middle School. Ms. Greer has served as the principal of Washington Elementary School for the last 11 years. She has 20 plus years of experience in education, including her service as a director/owner of a private school in Texas for 11 years and four years as a teacher at Sevier Middle School. Ms. Greer has a Bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech and a Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas. She holds endorsements in elementary education, special education and administration.

Stacy Edwards has been named principal of Kennedy Elementary School. Mr. Edwards currently serves as the assistant to the principal at Sevier Middle School. He has 11 years experience in education, including four years as the assistant to the principal at Johnson and Sevier and seven years as an elementary teacher at Johnson. He earned his Bachelor’s and Educational Specialist’s degrees from East Tennessee State University and a Master’s degree from Cumberland College of Tennessee. He holds endorsements in elementary education and administration.

Michael Hubbard has been named principal of Andrew Johnson Elementary School. Mr. Hubbard currently serves as principal of Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School. He has been an educator for more than 16 years, serving as the assistant to the principal at Jefferson Elementary School, system-wide testing coordinator, Director of Student Services, and as a teacher at Jackson Elementary. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Berea College and Master’s and Educational Specialist’s degrees from East Tennessee State University. He holds endorsements in elementary education and administration.

Dr. Jean Heise has been named principal of George Washington Elementary School. Dr. Heise currently serves as an assistant principal at Dobyns-Bennett High School. She has more than 25 years of experience in education, including six years as an elementary principal in Hawkins County Schools. Dr. Heise has a Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, Master’s degrees from Central State University and East Tennessee State University, and a Doctoral degree in Education from Oklahoma State University. She holds endorsements in English, Spanish, health & physical education and administration.

Mike Fulkerson has been named principal of Roosevelt Elementary School. Mr. Fulkerson currently serves as an assistant principal at Dobyns-Bennett High School. Mr. Fulkerson has more than 21 years of experience in education, including 14 years as a teacher at Sevier Middle School and four years as assistant to the principal at Sevier. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Tusculum College and a Master’s degree from East Tennessee State University. He holds endorsements in elementary education, special education, and administration.

The remaining schools – John Adams, Jackson, Jefferson and Lincoln Elementary and Robinson Middle School – have no changes in the principal’s position.
