For Parents

Parent Resources

Parents are valued partners in Kingsport City Schools, where we believe that successful learning is achieved through strong connections with parents and our community.

Parent Education & Family Resources

In addition to the vast resources on this site, Kingsport City Schools provides parenting classes, conferences and information through its Family Resource Center.  The Center also offers help to parents and children who are struggling to meet basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter.

Parent Involvement / Volunteerism

Kingsport City Schools is committed to promoting student achievement through strong partnerships. The excellence in our school system is due, in large part, to the involvement of our parents and their volunteer efforts. By sharing their time, talents and resources as members of PTAs and PTOs and as community volunteers and mentors, our parents strengthen Kingsport City Schools.

Parents as Partners in Our Schools

Reading to children, assisting with PTA and on family engagement committees are a few of the many volunteer opportunities that await parents in Kingsport City Schools. In addition to the resources found on this site, parents are encouraged to contact their child's teachers and school office for more information and partner opportunities.

The Kingsport City Schools uses a parent/school communication system called ParentLink  to routinely notify parents via telephone about unexcused or unverified absences and about meeting reminders. In an urgent situation, ParentLink will be used to make emergency calls to inform parents.

When fully implemented, parents may access ParentLink either online or via telephone to review a student’s grades at the middle or high schools and to look at their child’s attendance data at all schools.  Watch this space for more information about ParentLink.
