Fresh Fruits and Vegetables  

Kingsport City Schools is currently developing proposals to apply for funding through the USDA and Tennessee's School Nutrition Program's Fresh Fruits and Vegetables grant. Elementary schools with a free/reduced price lunch rate of 50% or greater are eligible to apply. The program provides approximately $50 per child enrolled in the school to purchase fresh produce to be served outside regular meal times. Kingsport City Schools will utilize these funds to provide healthy snacks and fresh produce "party trays" for special events and celebrations in our eligible schools.

Funding is requested for:

  • Abraham Lincoln Elementary School
  • Andrew Jackson Elementary School
  • John F. Kennedy Elementary School
  • Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School
