  • Xiang Named Presidential Scholar · May 01, 2009

    KINGSPORT -- Dobyns-Bennett High School Senior Alice Xiang has been named to the 2009 Presidential Scholars list, one of only 141 students in the nation. The honor, given by the U.S. Department of Education, recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, artistic excellence, leadership, citizenship and community service. As part of the award, Xiang was able to recognize her most influential teacher. She chose Dobyns-Bennett History and Philosophy Teacher Kevin Fielden. The two will travel to Washington, D.C. in June to accept the award from President Barack Obama.
